The Position: The VRD Department is seeking an Immersive Media Designer with Unreal Engine and asset creation experience to join a dedicated faculty teaching Virtual Reality Development. The primary responsibility of this position will focus on providing quality instruction, teaching students immersive media design techniques and visual scripting to create interactive projects.

Included among the duties and responsibilities, this position requires expertise in immersive media pipeline, directed research and analysis, and scripting events in UE4/UE5. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching three courses or nine credits per semester. Assignments include teaching introductory through advanced courses in creating interactive experiences and integration of aesthetic elements into the game engine. Ongoing commitment to creative work/research in the profession is expected. Active participation with faculty, department, and college service required.

This is a full-time appointment with benefits. The salary will be commensurate with the candidate’s qualifications and experience. The anticipated start date is August 2023. The College has a supportive, collegial faculty, a curriculum that strongly values excellence and a robust support system dedicated to using the most current technology.

  • A Master’s degree in Art, Game Design, or a related field, OR a 4-year professional degree in art or design and equivalent professional experience, training and expertise with an appropriate record of achievement in the field.
  • Experience with creating VR/AR/MR interactive projects.
  • 4+ years of experience as an Immersive Media Designer, content creator, or developer
  • Ability to teach introductory through advanced classes in-game and immersive media.
  • Experience with visual scripting.
  • Experience with Unreal Engine 4/5.
  • Experience with 3D modeling, animation, texturing creation, and familiarity with physically based rendering (PBR) standards.
  • Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills.

(Preferred Qualifications) Include evidence of:

  • A terminal degree in an appropriate discipline.
  • Experience designing user experiences and human centered design approaches.
  • Understanding of programming techniques and computational thinking.
  • Experience with Autodesk Maya, Substance Suite, ZBrush, and other related digital content creation tools.
  • Experience with serious games, architecture, simulation, medical, education, product visualization, virtual training, mobile application development, tools development, performance monitoring, entertainment gaming, or other related fields.
  • Scripting and/or programming experience is a plus but not required (e.g. Python, Java, C++, C#, Unreal Blueprint or other comparable object-oriented languages).

The Program in Media Arts and Sciences (MAS) at the Media Lab of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) Cambridge, Massachusetts invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in the area of Transformative Design. We welcome outstanding applicants with research, teaching, and creative practice related to the merging of design, computation, storytelling and societal impact in fields such as architecture, urban planning, graphic design, object design, engineering design, and immersive experience design. We are particularly interested in candidates with the vision and skills to extend human creativity, as well as people whose work champions the use of new tools, new approaches or new materials. 

We seek candidates who can both continue and enhance a long tradition of design innovation at the MIT Media Lab and MAS related to Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), visual information and aesthetics, nature-inspired design, urbanism, biological systems, music and sound, civic media, design justice and more. 2D Artist

Hey cloud chasers, us again.

We’re kickstarting 2023 with an exciting historically accurate (style-wise) project.

We’ll be diving into the Bronze Age Cultures and we’re looking for a 2D artist/illustrator with experience in drawing/tracing vector characters, assets and backgrounds in Adobe Animate or Illustrator. The assets will be animated in After Effects and will need to be broken down in groups and prepared for cut-out animation. Experience in the preparation of characters, assets and backgrounds for cut-out animation is a plus.

All designs should be historically accurate to particular periods. We’ve created a reference mood board for the style:

As Specialist Technician Digital Media – Animation, you will join the Digital Media technical team, imparting professional technical expertise, guidance and knowledge relating to digital making and animation, whilst also providing technical teaching, research and commercial activities.

You will provide support for student learning, contributing critical input to students’ expressive and creative intentions, providing feedback where necessary whilst contributing to student formative assessments. You will be responsible for specialist equipment and consumables usage and maintenance, simultaneously ensuring all relevant legislation, health and safety policy and University policy is followed. This includes the administration of systems, orders, bookings and maintenance records.

You will bring key skills in Animation, Moving Image and Sound – but you will also have the opportunity to develop new skills and experience across a wide range of technical workshops. This post is largely a flexible role and you will work to a structured roster over the course of the year.

We are looking for a creative 2D animator to illustrate and animate sections of a novel for our publishing app. The ideal candidate will be able to:

  • Work from a script file in the animation / digital illustration program of your choice, then render said work as a JSON file. Please note, most of our team works with Adobe Programs.
