Staff Serious Games Developer Requirements:

  • Candidates selected may be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
  • BS (or higher) in Computer Science, Game Development, or a similar discipline, plus at least 2 years of related work experience. Equivalent professional experience (at least 8 years) will be considered for talented candidates without a degree.
  • Unreal Engine 4 programming experience.
  • C++ experience and demonstrated knowledge of good software engineering practices.
  • Ability to quickly understand existing code and enhance and build on an existing architecture.
  • Ability to work constructively with artists, designers, QA staff, programmers, and producers.
  • A passion for using state-of-the-art game technology to rapidly prototype systems and produce finished products with quick turnaround times and tight deadlines.

Preference to applicants with one or more of the following:

  • Unreal Engine 4 blueprint experience.
  • Experience developing multiplayer game/training applications.
  • Experience with mobile platform development (iOS, Android).
  • Familiarity or experience with web applications built on the Microsoft stack (Windows Server, IIS, MSSQL, C#, ASP.NET) and other web technologies (HTML, JavaScript).
  • Experience performing UE4 technical support and training.
  • Experience with tools development and infrastructure maintenance.
  • Experience with DirectX pipeline and modern 3D rendering techniques such as shaders, lighting models, and HLSL.

Following a successful phone interview, candidates will be required to take a code exam to demonstrate a variety of development proficiencies.

    Digital Extremes is seeking an Environment Artist to join our team. You will be joining a small team working on a demanding art project. Your comfort with Art Theory will be tested by a wide range of settings from landscapes to sci-fi hallways all the way to surreal abstractions. You need to have a strong understanding of modern DCC apps (Designer, medium poly and sub-d modeling, Painter, etc.). You will also need a strong portfolio that demonstrates your craft applied to the high sci-fi settings we create. An ideal candidate will be comfortable working in an Agile environment driven by JIRA in a Kanban workflow.     ABOUT THIS POSITION

    Digital Extremes is seeking a senior Layout Artist/World Builder to join our team. In this role, you will be following, and on occasion helping to define art direction through collaboration with the Layout Lead and the Art Director. You will also be collaborating with the Level Design team to understand and balance the artistic and gameplay direction of the project to ensure the successful execution of the game’s visual and technical design on a level by level basis. You will have a genuine enthusiasm and interest in video games combined with strong oral and written communication skills. You must provide a portfolio of your work that demonstrates an understanding of composition, colour theory, architecture, and storytelling and be able to describe the artistic and gameplay reasons of why these compositions work. Preferred extras include advanced level modelling and texturing experience in Maya or 3DSMax, ZBrush, Substance Painter or Designer, and Photoshop. The ability to sketch or concept ideas is also a bonus as this is an important part of relating ideas and planning the production of levels.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Follow and on occasion help to define art direction through collaboration with the Layout Lead and the Art Director

    Digital Extremes is seeking an Animator to join our team. You will be expected to help bring characters and props to life while working closely with other members of the animation team.     We’re collaborating with Disney and Lucasfilm Games on a new story-driven open-world video game set in the beloved Star Wars galaxy. This is a lore we love and want to do justice with a game and story that bring both new and lifelong fans on an immersive journey that will stay with them for years.

    As the sole Senior Material Artist at Massive on the Star Wars project, you'll have a great opportunity to impact the overall look and feel of our game. Your challenge will be; to not only create great Material assets, but to also set up the Material art pipelines, and collaborate/coordinate your efforts with various stakeholders across the production.

    You're a material enthusiast and have extensive experience with game art/development pipelines.     Besides the above we’re looking for someone aligned with our core values and the following skills and experience:

    • An extensive portfolio of Materials to AAA quality;
    • Proven work experience through several AAA game development cycles, with credits on at least 1 major title as a Texture / Material Artist, or a directly related role;
    • Expert skills in Substance;
    • Strong modeling skills in 3DS Max, Blender, Maya, and/or the equivalent tools;
    • Familiarity with node-based game engines like Unity, Unreal, and/or Snowdrop (our inhouse engine);

    Who we are looking for

    We are an independent development studio looking for a skilled and passionate UI Artist to give our interactive story game app a new look. Your job will be to carry out a general design overhaul of our app to visualize new features, screens and ui elements.  We will provide an introduction to our current app and detailed wireframes to get you started. There will be 40+ screens for you to create and bring to life. This will include branding redesign of logos, in-game elements and animations. Depending on your preferences you can use either Sketch or Figma.

    This is a freelance position that will have ongoing projects and will be 100% remote.

    Skills & Requirements

    • Experience in UI Design for mobile games and the ability to translate the provided wireframes into a modern and functional design
    • Ability to work efficiently and independently
    • Use Photoshop (and/or other graphic tools) and Sketch or Figma to create and implement User Interface screens and assets

    The Computer Animation Department is a nationally-respected program, which provides a rigorous professional education for our students. Computer Animation majors are professionally-focused on the animated feature film industry with linear narrative stories.     Facilities:  Ringling College’s Computer Animation Department is located in a 20,000 square foot facility. The facility is designed to replicate a professional studio environment, and boasts the highest-end state-of-the-art computer laboratories and a 20,000-core render farm. A full-time Institutional Technology staff supports the Department.

     

    The Position:  The Computer Animation Department is seeking qualified candidates for a faculty member to teach 3D computer animation, which requires expertise in, modeling, texturing, lighting, rendering, and compositing in the 3D environment using high-end resources. Included among the Duties and Responsibilities of this position are teaching students the production skills necessary to create, texture, light, and render 3D assets. Primary responsibilities are teaching within a structure of three courses or nine credits per semester. Ongoing commitment to creative work/scholarship in the profession is expected. Active participation in faculty, department, and college service is required.

     

    This is a full-time appointment with benefits. The salary will be commensurate with the candidate’s qualifications and experience.  The anticipated start date is August 2021.
